LG301: What's Next &
My Thoughts...

For the Device…

I’m going to plug it in and listen to Spotify on it…

When I’m ready and have time I may implement two-way communication with Arduino, cloud integration, a graphic equalizer, and the digital twin.

For the Software…

I have huge confidence in the software, I have a couple of opportunities in the next few months to implement, or at least prototype devices using this software. Before then some Performance Testing so I can share my confidence, with confidence!

My thoughts...

This brings me pleasure and makes a strong argument for rethinking how we deliver embedded functionality. I’m not sure Engineers will agree with me, but maybe we can meet halfway and hand the display element over to UX Designers?

Working in an Engineering environment has improved my understanding but also strengthened my belief in Design-Led Engineering, well design-led everything really.

If you’re not already familiar with their work, check out The Interaction Design Foundation, I bet Don Norman doesn't use Linux.

I feel I’m developing a knack for prototyping, my design background helps, and I understand and recognise good design… Much can also be learned from 'device autopsy' and the more I take things apart the easier it becomes to design & build new components.

This course in general, and specifically this module has given me the confidence to solve problems and not be afraid to look in new directions for answers.

I wrote that the device for this module could have been anything, but I fell in love with this device and would only settle for the best of everything for it. Not great for my timekeeping, but an example of how we will work to increase the lifespan of beautiful things if the opportunity is given to us. "What can we make this do next?" rather than "What can we sell them next?"

"This would grace any living room", a colleague said as he walked past my desk… that’s half the battle, I hope I’m a step nearer to an application architecture that enables us to ensure the UX lives up to the physical design, which I can only take a little credit for.

I’m very proud of this, Thank You.
